The City of Casey is reviewing its Public Art Policy and wants to hear from residents on their ideas and thoughts on public art in the municipality.
Community members are invited to provide input in a number of ways including attending Council’s Public Art Think Tank on Thursday 10 September 2015, completing a survey or taking a quick poll.
City of Casey Mayor Cr Mick Morland encouraged residents to share their ideas and opinions on public art with Council before consultation closes on 1 October 2015. All those who have their say will go in the draw to win a $100 Westfield voucher.
"Council’s Public Art Program offers a dynamic and varied approach to the use of art to create meaningful places that celebrate our city’s community, heritage, innovation and environment.
"Public art ranges from permanent sculptural works to temporary artistic incursions and digital installations.
"In reviewing our Public Art Policy, Council wants to hear from residents and use their feedback to help us plan for the future development of a public art program for Casey.
"Council wants to gain a better understanding of what public art means to the community, if they feel it contributes to the overall health and wellbeing of residents and gauge thoughts on current pieces of public art throughout the municipality," Cr Morland said.
Residents are encouraged to come along to Council’s Public Art Think Tank on Thursday 10 September 2015 from 6.00 pm - 7.30 pm at the City of Casey Civic Centre, Magid Drive, Narre Warren.
The forum will give residents the opportunity to share their ideas on the future of public art in Casey.
Bookings are essential and can be made by calling Council’s Community Strengthening Department on 9705 5200 by 9 September 2015.
