Calling all hip-hop dancers and crews, breakdancers and beatboxers – sign up now to take part in the Fired Up! 2015 Hip Hop Tournament on Saturday 21 November.
City of Casey has partnered with City of Greater Dandenong and Replay Dance Productions to present the tournament, which is being organised by a group of young volunteers aged 12 to 25 years from across the region.
Council is now taking applications until Friday 16 October 2015 from groups and individuals wishing to take part across four categories - breaking, beatboxing, urban choreography and individual freestyle.
City of Casey Mayor Cr Mick Morland encouraged young performers with a passion for dance to apply.
“This tournament is aimed at young emerging dance crews and individuals who have not won a major competition in the past.
“It’s a wonderful opportunity for up and coming crews to showcase their talents to the community, gain experience performing in front of a crowd and compete for great prizes.
“With the support of the two Councils and Replay Dance Productions, this tournament is being organised by a passionate and enthusiastic group of young people who should be commended for the wonderful work they’re doing.
“Council encourages our talented young people to start rehearsing, to get ready to battle it out and show off your moves at Fired Up! in November,” Cr Morland concluded.
Individuals and groups wishing to compete must register their act with Council before Friday 16 October 2015 by downloading the application form from the Fired Up event page.
The tournament will take place on Saturday 21 November at the Berwick Church of Christ Auditorium, 432-446 Centre Road, Berwick between 12.30 pm and 9.00 pm.
Tickets for spectators will go on sale at 9.00 am on 26 October 2015 and can be purchased from the Trybooking website.
